During, academic career, Dr. Gaya Prasad was awarded with gold medals for high standings in medicine, surgery, obstetrics, gynecology, pathology, and pharmacology.His 27 years of teaching experience included 15 years as a professor, five years as a principal and Dean of faculty of Medicine.
        During his tensure, Dr. Prasad supervised and guided post graduates during M.D. and M.S. Examinations at Patna University in all subjects of medicine. Dr. Prasad joined P.W. Medicine College as lecturer of Pathology. While there he established and managed, as the Medical Officer In-Charge, the Children out-Patient Clinic from 1942 to 1946.
        In addition to these duties, Dr. Prasad initially organized post graduate education in pediatrics. He introduced M.D. examinations with pediatrics as a special, to Patna University. Under his guidance, two groups of students graduated with and M.D. in pediatrics in 1949 and 1952.
        Considering his accomplishments, it is obvious why Dr. Gaya Prasad in known as the “Father of Modern Pediatrics” in the State of Bihar, India.
